Hi, we’re Martin + Laura – two curious Canadians roaming the world, exploring the in between.
After years of dreaming, months of planning, and weeks of packing, we left our careers in advertising behind and hopped on a one-way flight for a wonderful and weird, terrific and terrifying year of travel.
So, why Somewhere in Between?
Well, in our relationship, we often find ourselves on opposite sides of the spectrum – calm/energetic, thoughtful/active, logical/emotional – but over the years we’ve learned that the sweet spot for us is, you guessed it, somewhere in between.
And our favourite travel experiences are somewhere in between too. We’re old enough that we can afford to splurge, but want our budget to last as long as possible. Popular attractions call to us, but there’s nothing like the high that comes from discoveries off the beaten path. Toronto is home and we love the culture (and fooood) that comes with city life, but a beautiful mountainscape or sprawling countryside vista really take our breath away. We have a tendency to get excited and overbook ourselves, but love to take advantage of quiet moments with a cup of tea or glass of wine, preferably at sunset.
This blog is our way of keeping track of the journey while staying in touch with everyone we know and have yet to meet. And hopefully, spreading our love of travel while making it easier for others as we go.
